MASK

Chief Copper Killer Whale Sun Mask

STATUS : Available

This Sun Mask represents the Killer Whale Chief and the responsibilities that come with leadership. The Killer Whale symbolizes family, strength, and protection, while the Sun represents life and the balance between the land, rivers, and ocean.
The Killer Whale is carried throughout the face: its tail forms the chin, its dorsal fin rises from the forehead, and its head appears along the side. Copper represents the wealth, honour, prestige, and responsibility of a Chief. Together, these elements tell a story about providing for the people, respecting the position of leadership, and carrying family and community responsibilities from one generation to the next.
